Innovations in Teaching and Learning: SOTL

Thursday, April 9th from 9:30-11:30 a.m. in the College of Aviation atrium, CTLE will be hosting a poster session celebrating the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning (SoTL) as part of Innovations in Teaching and Learning Week.

The Scholarship of Teaching and Learning (SoTL) is the study of the effectiveness of a particular teaching practice.  SoTL is often conducted by a faculty member specific to a course he or she teaches but can also include scholarly practices that represent teaching in a particular discipline.  SoTL employs research methods similar to those used in other research endeavors including reflection, evidence-based methods, peer review, and publicly disseminated findings.

Several faculty members will be sharing their experiences conducting scholarly research in their classroom.  There will also be a “Canvas Corner” in which visitors can speak with a faculty member who has used the Canvas learning management system s well as information about CTLE and the practice of teaching and learning.
